Examination of the helplessness of children.
If you choose to teach your child about God and prayer, I'd respectfully suggest that praying for a puppy from Santa on Christmas Eve may not be the best game plan. Each corner touches on what happened that Christmas Eve, and the final result. I had a couple of weeks to play with Jingle before caring for a puppy began to wear on my birth father, and the dog disappeared.
The resulting sense of loss and confusion, from a seemingly ordinary event like this, does nothing for a child's ability to trust in others; be they God, Santa, or the parents themselves.

You're quite welcome. Is it possible you had one or several different versions of this artwork? I was quite sure I had already commented on it...

My Christmas was quiet but good. Hope you had a great one yourself. :)

Oh yeah... I had to go look for it... and I had. Btw, I found a portrait of Em that you did, you've captured her quite nicely. :)

Thanks! I was surprised, her family thought so too, so I did a crop for her ;)(They don't know the gentleman.)

I didn't get cheery from this piece at all - and that was before reading the comments. Probably because I looked to the borders, but also the light in the center and the darkness around the edges. a moment of joy suspended in a context of pain and loss.
