Many Hogwarts students fantasized about hexing Snape with a love potion. No one living is known to have actually attempted it. That is, until an intrepid young Slytherin professor came up with the idea of charming Fairies into doing it *for* her. Although the Fairies' love darts would incinerate on impact with their target, the idea caught on. The effect of this potion - by - proxy scheme was unsuccessful. However, it became so popular, that the fairy population plummeted in the region. Their numbers have made a small, tentative, *nervous* comeback since being put on the Endangered Magical Beings list.
